Love Me Do

Cookie Dough Fundraising

I am so excited about the Fundraising program that I will be able to offer you in the Fall! It’s frozen cookie dough! But it’s unlike any cookie dough I have ever seen. Keep reading…

The first thing that caught my eye is the fact that they are all egg-free. I realize that this may not be the most important factor to most people, but to me, it opens up a world of possibilities. My son is highly allergic to eggs and this means that I may be able to offer him something other than Oreos as a treat.

Some of the other awesome features of this cookie dough will be more interesting to the general population. Even though it is a frozen cookie dough, it can actually be stored at room temperature for up to 21 DAYS. Yes, I said days! That is awesome news for people like me who occasionally get side-tracked and leave something out overnight.

Not only can it be left at room temperature for 21 days, it can also be re-frozen! It is also certified KOSHER!

I will be happy to set up a fundraiser for your group. Just contact me for more details.

Fundraiser for the Plumlee Children

Recently, a local mother of three children lost her life trying to help direct a school bus that was having trouble backing out from her street. She had three kids, two with special needs. In August, they lost their father to a sudden heart attack. Village of Hope is a fundraising effort to help these children during this terrible time of transition for them. Please take a look at this fundraising site and see if there is anything that you would like to order. There are food mixes, candles, wrapping paper and other gifts available.

4-5 bags candy (Grace used sugar-coated jelly fruit slices)

Spray adhesive

Hot glue gun & glue sticks

Micro glitter

Ribbon for bow

2. Wrap felt around Styrofoam cone, covering completely.

3. Sort candy into colors. Cut some in half to create pattern on cone.

4. Plug in glue gun is on low setting.

5. Begin attaching first row of candy to bottom of cone.

6. Make sure all candies line up and that they extend about 1/8 inch below base of cone. Hold candy in place until it is secured to cone.

7. Start second row of candy: Apply glue toward middle, making sure they are fitting closely to the pieces below and next to it. Because of the curved shape, you’ll see some of the green felt.

8. Continue gluing candy in rows around cone all the way to the top.

9. When cone is completely covered with candy, sprinkle liberally with glitter and top with bow.

•To make the look uniquely yours, use your favorite candies.

•This is a fun project to do with kids so hold a family night and make this your DIY project.

New Microwave recipe for you!

Microwave Lasagna

Ingredients for the meat sauce:

1/2 lb. mild Italian sausage
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 chopped yellow onion
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
3 minced garlic cloves
Italian Seasoning
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp pepper
2 Tbs. steak sauce
2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
two 1-lb. jars spaghetti sauce

Grate 1/12 cups Parmesan Cheese, set aside.

Grate 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, set aside

Chop onions and green pepper with a Food Chopper. Mince garlic with a Garlic Press.

In 12-inch skillet, brown sausage and ground meat. (Chop the meat) Cook for 5 minutes.

Add onions, green pepper and garlic. Add 2 TBSP Italian Seasoning. Cook for 5 minutes. Add 2 jars spaghetti sauce, mixing well.

In Large Batter Bowl, mix:

15 oz. ricotta cheese
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 Tbs. chopped parsley
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. garlic powder

In Bean Pot, spoon in a layer of meat sauce. Add a layer of no-cook lasagna noodles. Sprinkle noodles with some of the Parmesan and Jack cheeses. Add a layer of the filling, using several spoonfuls spread evenly per layer.

Repeat the sequence of sauce, noodles, cheese and filling. Be sure you finish with the ricotta mixture on top, since it will seal in the cheese and keep it from becoming rubbery in the microwave.

Cook 15 minutes on high, then 20 minutes on medium. Top with more Parmesan Cheese. Let stand 10 minutes. Serve with mini serving spatula.

*Note: This can also be prepared in the oven. Cook uncovered at 375 degrees for one hour. Let rest for 15 minutes.

New Microwave Recipe – Bacon & Cheese Fettuccine

Earlier this week, I went to a friend’s house and had an opportunity to try a new dish. I don’t really know the exact recipe she used, but I decided to give it a try in my Veranda Bean Pot. I don’t think I have the recipe in its best form, so I won’t post it on my microwave recipe page yet, but I will share what I used today…

First, I prepared about 8 strips of bacon.

Then in my bean pot, I put in…
1 box of fettuccine
2 cans of diced tomatoes (14.5 oz.)
2 cups of chicken broth

You could also add one chopped onion. I did not have any onions, but I did put some onion flakes in. I also added some other seasonings that I tend to put in everything (Italian, salt, pepper)

Once the bacon was cooked, I crumbled it into the bean pot and cooked everything in the microwave for 25 minutes. Then I added a block of cream cheese to it once it was done.

The flavor was great! Although I did think it was just a smidge on the dry side. I am not yet sure what I need to add in order to make it just a little more moist. Once I get the recipe where I like it, I will post it on my Microwave Recipe page.

If you would like to try the recipe and experiment further, please let me know what worked for you!

Scents of Home Fragrance Warmers

Have you seen our new fragrance warmers? They are fantastic!

Instead of burning wax, we use a mere half ounce of gel. It doesn’t spill and is very easy to clean. Just rinse it away. The scent fills the room instantly. You can also choose to use the high or low setting depending on the size of the room. Choose a design to match your other stoneware pieces or something that coordinates with the decor in any room of the house.
